The Objective
Azores Airlines (the first airline to serve the Portuguese Azores islands) and the Azores Tourism Association hired Duet to secure positive press coverage and generate awareness about the islands and its incredible yet mostly unknown offerings within the Canadian market, to ultimately boost tourism coming from Canada.
Strategy
- Editorial Content: Created engaging content ideas, such as “5 Reasons the Azores Should Be on Your Bucket List,” and organized bespoke press trips for feature articles.
- Cultural Events: hosted Toronto and Montreal events featuring a Portuguese chef and Port wine producers to showcase the Azores’ culture and cuisine.
Results
- The airline and tourism board’s social media presence skyrocketed with tens of thousands of new followers and fan engagement at an all-time high.
- Additional weekly flights from Toronto to Ponta Delgada scheduled since the start of the campaign.
