Amici Camping Charity is a registered charity that sends children from low-income families to Ontario’s summer camps for as many years as each child requires the financial support.
Step Two: Duet PR identifies the PR opportunity
Amici has run a fundraising event called Canoe Heads for Kids for four years without media attention and therefore little participation (and funds) from outside of the charity’s circle. The event sees 100 camp enthusiasts strap canoes to their backs and embark on a grueling 40km paddle and portage through Toronto to raise money to send kinds to camp. It’s a feel-good news story worthy of widespread media attention – if only the media knew about it.
